Description of Position

Be a part of this innovative program that is the first of its kind in Massachusetts. CCBC and the Department of Mental Health (DMH) will work collaboratively in the PACT- Y program to meet the needs of youth and families who want a creative, flexible, dynamic team to support them in achieving their goals. The Educational/Vocational Specialist will support youth in identifying their educational goals, assist in obtaining the necessary supports and coordinate with schools. They will also develop employment goals with youth, build resumes and assist with job readiness skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of educational and vocational services
  • Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to support treatment, educational and vocational goals
  • Teach and assist with job-seeking efforts such as resume writing and interview skills
  • Assist youth in identifying vocational and educational strengths and goals, as well as mental health symptoms that impact the ability to work and learn
  • Provide training to other team members to help them integrate interventions and support vocational/educational goals
  • Make appropriate referrals for testing, benefits or other areas included in the treatment plan
  • Coordinate care with the family, team, providers and DMH
  • Complete required documentation per program guidelines

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, education or a related field
  • Experience working with children, youth and families with mental health challenges
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to learn and seek guidance as needed
  • Good organizational skills, in addition to effective verbal, written and computer skills
  • Experience working with schools preferred but not required
