Description of Position

We are seeking a full-time registered nurse (RN) to join our PACT (Program of Assertive Community Treatment) team in providing medical assistance to our clients with persistent mental health struggles. You will help clients stay out of inpatient care and in their communities by managing and administering medications and empowering clients to maintain some independence by teaching them about medication self-management, prevention, and wellness. Important qualities to be successful in this role include being self-motivated, good personal boundaries, and a belief in the principles of hope and recovery from mental illness.

PACT is a comprehensive, community-based psychiatric program providing treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to adults with chronic mental illness, and some with co-occurring addictions and/or chronic medical problems. Become a member of our multidisciplinary team that also includes a prescriber, vocational specialists, social workers, housing specialists, and addiction and recovery specialists. PACT positions are outreach positions and applicants are required to work with clients in their homes and in community settings.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Medication management including administration of oral and intra-muscular medications, monitoring side effects, contraindications, and drug reactions
  • Meet clients in our Brockton office, in their homes, and in community settings to administer medication
  • Liaise with supplying pharmacies and provide oversight for medication storage and deliveries, communicate prescription changes, and prepare medications for clients to manage
  • Educate clients on self-managing medications and overall health and wellness according to clients’ needs. Monitor medication usage and make changes accordingly
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss treatment planning and client progress. Collaborate with team to problem solve and determine best way to deliver comprehensive services

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited and/or approved registered nurse program
  • Current, unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Minimum 1 year experience working as a registered nurse
  • Current certification in CPR
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Requirements

  • Working knowledge of psychiatric disorders, including the diagnosis and treatment, and of psychotropic, antidepressant medications and side effects
