Description of Position

As a Family Partner supporting the Emergency Services Program, you will be a valuable ally for families and caregivers of those who are experiencing serious emotional difficulties. You will look to your lived experiences and support others as they learn new coping skills. You'll also have unparalleled support and learning opportunities working with a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, supervisors, and physicians.

Client Care
  • Provide peer support to parents and caregivers served by the ESP
  • Learn the family's story, culture, strengths, and concerns
  • Be a consistent source of encouragement and hope
  • Give non-judgmental, unconditional support
  • Model effective coping techniques
  • Engage parent/caregiver in activities in the home and community
  • Assist the parent/caregiver with meeting the needs of the youth with the purpose of educating, supporting, coaching, modeling, and guiding
  • Empower parent/caregiver with links to peer/parent support and self-help groups in the community
  • Teach the parent/caregiver how to identify natural and community-based resources (e.g., after-school programs, food assistance, housing resources, etc.)
Clinical Support
  • When requested, participate in Care Planning Team (CPT) meetings to ensure access, voice and choice within the wraparound process and to support the parent/caregiver's connection to CPT members
  • Serve as liaison, ensuring family and providers understand each other's perspective and information
  • Meet weekly with an independently licensed clinician for supervision
  • Comply with all CCBC personnel policies and procedures related to employment

Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in human services field from an accredited university and one (1) year of experience working with the target population; OR
    • Associate's degree in a human service field from an accredited university and one (1) year of experience working with children/adolescents/transitional aged youth; OR
    • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years working with children/adolescents/transitional aged youth
  • Lived experience as a caregiver of a youth with serious emotional disturbance
  • Experience navigating any of the child and family-serving systems and teaching family members who are involved with the child and family serving systems
  • Willingness to provide mobile emergency services interventions and follow-up
